With 10 games left in the regular season, the Lady Dragons notched their 16th win of the season, matching last year’s win total with a 41-33 win over Fossil Ridge on Tuesday. Freshman Camryn Tade led the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds, posting the first double-double of her career and the first by a Lady Dragon this season.
After finishing 16-17 last year and making the playoffs for the first time in three years, Carroll is 16-8 this season and looking for its 4th straight win Friday night at home against Keller Central.
The Lady Dragons have victories over 10 teams that made the playoffs last year, including defending TAPPS Class 6A State Champion Bishop Lynch and Class 6A Regional Semifinalist College Station.
Carroll won the Consolation Championship at the Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth in early December. Senior Captain Jillian Sowell averaged 18 points per game and made the Cowtown All-Tournament team, which gave her something in common with Head Coach Robyn McCoart, who also made the Cowtown All-Tournament team as a Lady Dragon player 22 years ago.
Jillian Sowell was the District 5-6A Offensive Player of the Year last year, averaging 18.7 points per game and leading all of North Texas with 111 3-pointers. Sowell leads Carroll with a 12.3 scoring average this season.
Camryn Tade has emerged as the team’s second leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 10.4 points and 5.3 boards per game.
Junior Forward Kaelyn Riley leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game and has upped that production to 9.5 rebounds a game in district play.
Senior Captain Allyson Medici averages 4.9 points per game, followed by Junior Kelsey Boyette (4.8), Junior Captain Brittney Flexer (3.8), Junior Jordyn Sowell (3.2), Sophomore Kylie Swanson (2.2), and Junior Kalila Fambro (1.6).
