For the third straight game, Southlake Carroll held an opponent to under 30 points as the Lady Dragons wrapped up non-district play with a 37-29 win over defending TAPPS Class 6A State Champion Bishop Lynch in Dallas on Friday night.

Freshman Camryn Tade and Junior Kelsey Boyette combined for 23 points off the bench on 50% shooting (7x14) from the field.  Tade led all scorers with 14 points while Boyette connected on three key long distance bombs for 9 points.

The Lady Dragons won the rebounding battle as Jillian Sowell led the way with a season high 8 boards followed by Jordyn Sowell with 7, Kalila Fambro 5, and Tade 4.  The Lady Dragon defense held an opponent to under 25% shooting for the 3rd straight game.  Opponents are shooting just 11% (5x46) from 3-point range the last 4 games.

During the current 5-game winning streak, Carroll has wins over 4 opponents who made the playoffs last season.  Carroll has now won 8 of its last 9 games with 7 wins over 2019 playoff squads.  The only loss during this stretch came against unbeaten Plano, 42-32, in the first round of the Cowtown Classic, where the Lady Dragons went on to win the Consolation Championship.  Plano lost in the championship game, 56-51, to DeSoto, the #1 ranked team in the nation.

Carroll opens District 5-6A play this week with a home game at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Keller (14-3) and a road game at 6 p.m. Friday at Denton Guyer (12-2).
