Nine different Lady Dragons scored points in the first nine minutes of the game as Southlake Carroll took command early and raced to a 51-32 playoff clinching win over the Central Lady Chargers in Keller on Tuesday night.

The Lady Dragons currently stand all alone in 3rd place in the District 5-6A standings and, with the win, are headed to postseason play for the 2nd straight year under Head Coach Robyn McCoart with a 22-10 record, their best mark in five years.

Senior Jillian Sowell and Freshman Camryn Tade paced the Lady Dragon attack with 12 points apiece.  Sowell and Tade each shot 45% from the field, combining to knock down four 3-pointers in the process.

Junior Kaelyn Riley grabbed 10 rebounds, 5 on the offensive glass, while Tade accounted for 7 boards, also pulling down 5 on offense.  The Lady Dragons won the rebounding battle, 31-24, and forced 18 turnovers.

Playing a key role on the defensive end was Junior Brittney Flexer, who led the team with 5 deflections and 2 steals.  Flexer also scored 6 points on 60% shooting, dishing out 3 assists with 4 rebounds and no turnovers.

Junior Kelsey Boyette heated up from long distance, scoring 8 points on 50% shooting, while Jordyn Sowell, Allyson Medici, Kalila Fambro, Kylie Swanson, and Riley all added to the early scoring spree.

The Lady Dragons look for their 4th straight win Friday night in Haslet against Eaton High School.  Carroll will wrap up the regular season Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Timber Creek in a game that could determine playoff seeding.

If Carroll finishes in 3rd place in District 5-6A, it will play the 2nd place team from District 6-6A, either Irving MacArthur or Flower Mound.  Those two teams are currently tied for 1st place and meet each other in the season finale in Flower Mound on Tuesday.
